These apply when you buy a sponsored slot or a leaderboard entry on Safety Shortlist, which is run by a sole trader in England. Being listed in the directory is free and is not covered by them.

What a sponsored slot buys

One slot at the top of one list, for the number of months you pay for. It shows your product name, link, description and thumbnail, it reads like every other entry on the page, and it carries a small Ad label.

• Each list has one slot. While yours is running, nobody else can buy that list.
• It goes live within a minute of a successful payment.
• It stops showing the moment the paid period ends.
• It is a one off payment. It does not renew and you will not be charged again.

What a leaderboard entry buys

A place on the leaderboard, ranked by the total you have paid, highest first. Pay what you want above the minimum shown on the form.

• Your place holds until somebody pays more. It can be passed at any time and we do not tell you when it happens.
• A later payment using the same email address and link is added to your existing total rather than creating a second entry.
• Equal amounts are ranked by who paid first, which is why the figure we suggest for the top spot is a pound above the current leader.
• An entry is never reduced and never expires. It stays until you ask us to remove it.

Advertising, not endorsement

A paid placement is advertising. It is not a recommendation, a review or any statement that we have used your product or think it is good. It is always labelled as an advertisement, and the footer of every page says plainly what can be bought.

Paying does not affect anything else on the site. It cannot move a free resource down a page, it cannot get you listed anywhere other than the slot you bought, and the order of everything beneath the paid slot is reshuffled daily so that no position on this site can be bought except that one.

Price and currency

Everything on this site is priced and charged in pounds sterling, for every buyer, wherever you are. The price shown is the price charged: your card is charged in GBP and your bank will handle any conversion. We do not convert, and there is no other currency to choose.

Safety Shortlist is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is added and the figure you see is the figure you pay. Payment is taken by Stripe and we never see your card details.

Refunds

Sponsored slots. Tell us within 14 days of paying and we will take the slot down and refund you in full. After 14 days we do not refund a change of mind, because the slot is exclusive: for as long as it runs nobody else can buy that list, so the thing you bought has been used whether or not you still want it.

Leaderboard entries. Not refundable. Your rank is delivered the moment the payment clears and it is public immediately, and a refund cannot undo that or restore the positions of everyone who paid around you.

In both cases, if we take your listing down ourselves, you get your money back: a sponsored slot is refunded pro rata for the whole months not used, and a leaderboard entry is refunded in full.

What we can refuse or remove

We decide what appears on this site. We can refuse a submission, refuse a sponsorship or remove anything already live, at any time, without having to justify it. We will normally tell you why, and if we remove something you paid for you are refunded as set out above.

What you give us has to be yours to give, lawful, accurate and not misleading, and the link has to go where you say it goes. That is the usual reason something comes down.

What we do not promise

We do not promise any level of traffic, clicks or results, and click counts shown on the site are our own figures and are not audited. We do not promise the site is always available. If something does go wrong, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us.

General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If we change them, the date at the top changes, and the version that applies to your purchase is the one that was published when you paid.
